Patrick Crane, left, and Steve Sordello, are joining the executive management team at LinkedIn. Crane served as VP of Marketing in the Network Division of Yahoo! and Sordello was CFO at TiVo before resigning last week. How TiVo recruits and hires employees
Ever wonder how TiVo's recruiting and hiring process happens? If so, there is an interesting blog post which summarizes a recent interview with William Uranga, staffing director for TiVo. Learn about some of the new ways they used to recruit and hire employees, including the use of the Jobster network and putting recruiting videos (see it on YouTube) on TiVo boxes that subscribers can choose to watch. Read all about the interview here.

Burning TiVo to DVD on Linux
This blogger, Zymurgeek, recently wrote some nice posts with step by step instructions for getting a show off your TiVo and burning to DVD. You'll need the Linux OS and command line experience to understand it all. Good luck!
1) Start here with this first simple post on how to get a show file off your networked TiVo and onto your computer. Then convert the video to MPEG format.
Downloading video from TiVo
2) Next, he explains how to do some editing of the MPEG file and converting it to the proper NTSC DVD format.
Editing MGEG video from TiVo
3) Lastly, he summarized the first two posts in 9 steps.

This dog fetches the TiVo remote
We've all seen a dog that fetches the morning paper. Some people have even trainined their dog to fetch them a soda or beer from the fridge. Both are great tricks, but this dog has taken the art of fetching to a new level. She will bring the TiVo remote over to her owners, what a good girl. Now if they can train her to program a Season Pass of Animal Planet, she might be appearing live on Letterman's pet tricks instead of just this photo on Flickr.

TiVo becomming irrelevant?
This blog post sheds a dim light on TiVo's future, arguing they can't scale in the rapid evolution of TV content over the internet. However, I continue to believe that TiVo will keep innovating to stay ahead and find new ways to grow subscribers and generate revenue. I think they are perfectly positioned to ride the massive wave of HDTV adoption with the Series 3 that will happen over the next two years. Remember, analog TV broadcasts will cease and be replaced with digital signals on Feb 17, 2009. Along with this, CableCARD technology is going to officially take effect on July 1st. This puts TiVo in a nice sweet spot for the moment, competing with the cable companies with a much better set top box. What are your thoughts on TiVo's future in this rapidly changing television landscape?

TiVo in Australia, why it took so long
I found this excellent article by Davis Freeberg tonight, that sheds light on why it has taken so long for TiVo to reach the consumers of Australia. He breaks down issues surrounding lawsuits, electronic program guide licensing, and tivodownunder.com. It makes much more sense now, read on to learn the drama behind this stage of TiVo's global reach. Thankfully, last week a new deal was announced with Seven Media Group to bring TiVo to Australia and New Zealand. Hopefully the consumers will embrace this partnership and close the chapter on this ridiculous legal roadblock.
