Also, on Aug 11 I blogged about the TiVo 80 hr single tuner DVR for free after rebate at Costco. Checking today, it looks like they are sold out of those units.

These TiVo employees had an off-site meeting cookout. Notice the cool blaze orange TiVo aprons. Based on the series of pictures, it was probably a team building meeting and they were cooking Thai food, yum!

The support area of tivo.com was taken down for maintenance for over 24 hours Tues - Weds. It's now back online with new content. I actually spoke to a customer service person earlier today about my troubles with the ESPN program listings I blogged about yesterday. The rep said they were relaunching it sometime today with new content, and needed to take it down to do the conversion. A brief browse through the site tonight already led me to an issue, so it's still not quite up to par.

1. From the main Support page, click "Contact Support" in lower right
2. On this page, there is a section at the bottom titled"Program Guide Issues". Perfect, that's the info I want to read.

Tonight I went to find contact info for TiVo support. I need them to adjust ESPN and ESPN2 program scheduling ASAP, as I"m trying to record a Little League World Series game that was moved to Weds Aug 22. TiVo's channel guide isn't updated with all the game changes. Unfortunately, if you visit the Support page, this is the unfriendly message that is displayed...

CNET has produced some nice video reviews of both the new TiVo HD, as well as last year's Series 3. John Falcone, Senior editor at CNET, reviews the units, and shows the cable card slots and lots of looks at the on screen menus, remotes, and the TiVo boxes themselves.

The TiVo HD review is 2 minutes in length, while the Series 3 plays for 3 minutes. These are both definately worth watching if you're shopping for one of the High Def TiVo units in the near future. CNET has rated each of these with Very Good at 7.7 out of 10.

I searched around to see if I could find other similar offers, and indeed I did. Buy.com is also offering the TiVo 80 hr single tuner DVR for $170 - $170 rebate = FREE. This offer is valid for orders placed July 29, 2007 through September 8, 2007 and activated by October 8, 2007.

However, unlike Costco whose standard shipping via UPS Ground is included in the quoted price, Buy.com has shipping for $14.96. Ten days ago, I blogged that Yahoo's TiVo scheduling feature was down while they upgraded their service. Today I checked again, and it is back up. However, as a result of the upgrade, users who have previously registered their TiVo devices will need to re-sync their TiVo account to Yahoo in order to take advantage of changes they made.

Read Yahoo! TV teams's blog for full details on what they updated. Most importantly, you can now schedule a Series 3 box, which previously was not possible.

I've found two TV programs that have used or mentioned TiVo during the show. Has anyone seen these? Are there any other shows or movies that include TiVo? You can eventually catch syndicated reruns of these if you set your own TiVo on a season pass. Enjoy.
